Share Bear Pattern

I remember every time my sister and I went to the video store to rent a VHS (don’t start doing maths on my age) when I was little I’d beg her to rent the Care Bears movie, and most of the time she’s let me. So I wanted to share my love of Care Bears with you with this Share Bear pattern (see what I did there…) Enjoy!

Materials:
Colour A: James C Brett Flutterby, Lilac
Colour B: James C Brett Flutterby, White
Colour C: James C Brett Flutterby, Black
Colour D: James C Brett Flutterby, Petal Pink
Colour E: Rico Ricorumi DK , White
Colour F: Rico Ricorumi DK , Black
Colour G: Rico Ricorumi DK , Light Blue
Colour H: Rico Ricorumi DK , Rose

Crochet Hook:
4mm for chenille yarn
2.5 mm for cotton yarn

Toy stuffing

Head:
1. Using colour A, work 6 sc in magic ring (6)
2. Inc in each st (12)
3. *1 sc, 1 inc** repeat * to ** 6 times (18)
4. *2 sc, 1 inc** repeat * to ** 6 times (24)
5. *3 sc, 1 inc** repeat * to ** 6 times (30)
6. *4 sc, 1 inc** repeat * to ** 6 times (36)
7. *5 sc, 1 inc** repeat * to ** 6 times (42)
8-13. Sc in each st
14. *5 sc, 1 inv.dec** repeat * to ** 6 times (36)
15. *4 sc, 1 inv.dec** repeat * to ** 6 times (30)
16-20. Sc in each st
21. *3 sc, 1 inv.dec** repeat * to ** 6 times (24)
22. *2 sc, 1 inv.dec** repeat * to ** 6 times (18)
Start stuffing the head firmly and continue as you go along.
23. *1 sc, 1 inv.dec** repeat * to ** 6 times (12)
24. Inv.dec in each st (6)
Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing the last sts together.
To pinch the cheeks and add shape, make a few sts bteween row 9 and 14 inside the head with 7 sts in between.

Ears (make 2):
1. Using colour B, work 6 sc in magic ring (6)
2. Change to colour A, inc in each st (12)
Fasten off leaving a long tail for attaching across row 21-22 with
10 sts between at the front on row 21.

Nose (white part):
1. Using colour B, work 6 sc in magic ring (6)
2. Inc in each st (12)
3. *1 sc, 1 inc** repeat * to ** 6 times (18)
4. *2 sc, 1 inc** repeat * to ** 6 times (24)
Sl st in the next st and fasten off leaving a long tail for attaching.
Attach the nose across row 9-14 between where you pinched the cheeks.

Nose (heart):
1. Using colour A, in a magic ring work the following sts:
Ch 2, hdc 2, sc 5, hdc 2, ch 2, sl st.
Fasten off leaving a long tail for attaching.
Attach the heart to the white part of the nose 2 rows down from the top of the white part.

Mouth:
1. Using colour C, work 6 sc in magic ring (6)
2. Change to colour A, inc in each st (12)
Fasten off leaving a long tail for attaching.
With a tail of colour D, stitch the tongue on across the bottom of the black part of the mouth with a few straight sts.

Eyes:
The eyes are stitched on across 16-18 with 5 sts in between.
You’ll build the eye as you go in the same sts, starting with the black pupil part. Across row 16-17, work 5 sts in colour F.
To the left side of these sts, with colour G, work 3 sts.
Using colour E, work 3 white sts across row 16-18 to the left of the black and blue sts.
Now with colour F work 2 sts across row 16-18 on the right side of the previous sts.
Work one more st across row 17-18 on the left side of the white sts.
The top eyelash is worked across row 18 from the top of the eye, 1 st wide. The second lash starts in row 17 and goes across 2 sts horizontally to the left in to row 18.

Body:
1. Using colour A, work 6 sc in magic ring (6)
2. Inc in each st (12)
3. *1 sc, 1 inc** repeat * to ** 6 times (18)
4. *2 sc, 1 inc** repeat * to ** 6 times (24)
5. *3 sc, 1 inc** repeat * to ** 6 times (30)
6. *4 sc, 1 inc** repeat * to ** 6 times (36)
7. *5 sc, 1 inc** repeat * to ** 6 times (42)

Stuff the bottom part of the leg firmly, the middle part lightly and leave the top part unstuffed. Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing across the opening at the top of the leg and attach between row 9-10 of the body.

Arms:
1. Using colour A, work 6 sc in magic ring (6)
2. Inc in each st (12)
3. *1 sc, 1 inc** repeat * to ** 6 times (18)
4. *2 sc, 1 inc** repeat * to ** 6 times (24)
5-8. Sc in each st
9. *2 sc, 1 inv.dec** repeat * to ** 6 times (18)

Stuff the bottom part of the arms firmly, the middle part lightly and leave the top part unstuffed.
Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing across the opening at the top of the arm and attach between row 22-23 of the body.

Tail:

3-5. Sc in each st
Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing across the opening at the top of the tail and attach between row 10-11 of the body.

Belly:
1. Using colour B, work 6 sc in magic ring (6)

Stick part:
1. Using colour G/H, ch 20
2. Starting in second st from the hook, hdc 19
Fasten off leaving a long tail for attaching.

Heart:
1. Using colour G/H, work 13 sc in magic ring
2. [Sl st, ch 1, hdc] in the same st, 4 dc in the next st, 2 hdc in next st, sc in the next 3 sts, [hdc, dc, hdc] in next st, sc in the next 3 sts, 2 hdc in next st, 4 dc in the next st, [hdc, ch 1, sl st] in the same st.
Fasten off leaving a long tail for attaching.

Pin the lollipops and sticks to the belly, the round part should sit at the top of the belly across row 4-9. The sticks should go down across from the top of row 3 to the bottom of row 6 in a diagonal.
Attach the pink heart/stick to the blue lollipop and vise versa.
